Happy lats, happy golf swing!

​Our lats muscles (short for Latissimus dorsi) play an important role during the entire golf swing. Lengthened lats allow you to have an efficient shoulder turn and to finish your swing completely (with a tight right lat for example, the right handed golfer will be limited in finishing the swing comfortably.) Strong lats also have the potential to generate a lot of power as you initiate your downswing. 
​Hence the importance of incorporating a couple of key lat movements in your golf performance program. One of my favourite sequence for lats stretching is the Active child's pose, in 3D. Tip: placing a rolled up towel under the ankles or behind the knees can help with those who can't be in full knee flexion or plantar flexion. Breathe deeply and enjoy!
