Gentle Yoga - Restorative Yoga - Yoga for Golfers™

A little warm-up goes a long way off the tee!

This is the season that raises our hopes up of teeing-off sooner rather than later. Snow has melted (well, almost!) and we are eager to start our 2019 golf season. A gentle reminder: warm up before you tee-off. Even a short warm-up can go a long way in preparing your body and mind for the golf swing. It is also a good way to prevent injuries and increase your distance off the tee. As an example, I am sharing with you, before and after pictures of a client of mine. During our initial session together, we found overall tightness of the muscles supporting the hips, pelvis and lower back. I then guided him through four basic Yoga for Golf exercises (see video.)

By the end of our first session together, with ease of movement, his rotation had improved significantly, and he was standing taller. The direct results from this improvement is added distance off the tee and the ability to maintain a better posture throughout the golf swing.
The pictures speak for themselves!

Prior to teeing-off, I recommend spending a minimum of 15 minutes warming-up the body by focusing on the following joints in the body: ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, and wrists. If you can, follow that brief body warm-up by hitting a few balls at the driving range. Wondering how to warm-up? View this video!

Here’s to a great start of the 2019 golf season!
