Me first...

We all know it;  exercising regularly, eating healthy meals, getting enough sleep, and engaging in social interactions, are crucial self-care components to stay healthy. Over the years, thru my personal yoga practice, it's become a little easier to put myself first, and to fight the temptations of taking care of other people or things, before getting on my mat or going for a run. As I get older, I realize that these self-care moments feed my ability to stay focused, energized, and "perform well on the job." When 2018 came around, I felt I needed an added motivation, something different! 
​I therefore decided to complement my usual training program by joining an on-line community of yogis, all working toward a mutual goal. As I am writing this article, I am now on day 9 of a 14-day strength challenge (of 20 minutes per day), and already feeling the benefits. Stronger core, stronger back, and higher energy! Doing something everyday for a prolonged period of time is habit forming. I can already feel that, once this challenge will be completed, I will seek another one, allowing me to remain motivated and engaged, while having fun! What is your favourite self-care activity, and how often do you allow yourself to prioritize it? Remember, "me first" goes a long way in achieving a healthy lifestyle!
