During an indoor spinning class a classmate introduced me to Chantal. I knew that my cycling was taking a toll on me, so Chantal and I talked about how Yoga could help me stretch out the muscles that contract during cycling. I then talked to my wife about yoga and shortly after that we both decided to attend Chantal’s yoga class. My focus was to help me stretch out from all my cycling. Joyce’s focus was to help with lower back issues and general relaxation. Two years later we both attend a separate yoga class offered by Chantal, Joyce attends a gentle yoga class and I attend one that is more focused on yoga for the cyclist. These classes have been both physical and spiritual in every sense of the word. If you haven’t tried Chantal’s yoga class you are really missing out on the opportunity to reduce the stress in your life while enjoying a workout that is catered to your personal needs. Truthfully both your mind and your body will thank you after your workout.

"I have always been a fairly physically active person, running and walking and playing squash. At my yearly physical a few years ago, my family doctor recommended I take up yoga to increase my flexibility. But what convinced me to take up yoga was the fact that she said it was a good habit for preventing running injuries. I opted for private sessions with Chantal at my home. Chantal taught me the basics of gentle yoga, with an emphasis on stretches and core strengthening, geared towards running. She also taught me (a typical type “A” personality) a little about meditation and mindfulness. I truly enjoyed the private sessions with her: she could really pay attention to the positions and make sure that I was achieving the correct posture. There was no judgement or competition, and I was taught to “be good to myself”. For anyone who has the flexibility of taking private sessions, I highly recommend Chantal. She is punctual, professional, and brings all the required equipment."

"I sought a Gentle Yoga class to keep up my yoga practice during an illness and it was exactly what I needed, a truly gentle class. Chantal cares for the wellbeing of her students as she always checks in with us before class to see how she can help every individual student's practice. What I appreciate most is Chantal's gentle reminders to be present but also to be mindful of our individual bodies needs and abilities and to not push ourselves beyond what we are capable. This class brings me much peace every time and I am happy to see that even a gentle yoga class can have a profound benefit to your body and spirit."

"Three years ago, I was experiencing severe muscle spasms caused by an acutely tight intercostal muscle. The back specialist suggested yoga as a means of working through the spasms. Recommended by a friend, I tried Chantal's Gentle Yoga class. I loved it, and have been attending weekly ever since. Within a short amount of time, I had no more back spasms. In addition, I have had limited mobility in my neck for the past 16 years due to a fall. Through regular attendance at Chantal's Gentle Yoga classes, I have gained mobility in my neck as well as overall flexibility. Chantal begins each class by inquiring if anyone has any new ailments she should know about and by assessing the energy level of the group. She adapts each class to these criteria. Chantal is in tune with each member of the class, readily providing accommodations or props to facilitate the poses. At the end of each class, I come away feeling wonderfully relaxed, well stretched, and at peace. I consider Chantal's Gentle Yoga class one of the highlights of my week."

"If I could take classes with Chantal daily, I would! I have been practicing yoga for 20 years. Having been taught by a number of yoga teachers, it is now my good fortune to have found Chantal. Chantal is clear and precise in her instruction, with a gentle manner and soothing voice and the sessions are geared to each student’s ability to take the pose within their comfort level. By the end of the class I leave feeling a release in the tension my body holds during the day and a stillness of the mind which allows for clarity and relaxation. Chantal has added a new dimension to my practice with her ability and skills in teaching."

"I have been working with Chantal Emond of Fore! Yoga for the past three years. As a breast cancer survivor my oncologist first suggested a Gentle Yoga class to me as she felt it was important for me to maintain a level of physical activity within my regular routine and Yoga would also be beneficial to assist me with managing my stress. I was first intrigued with Chantal's facilitation style and genuine enthusiasm from the start. Chantal brings such a positive energy to every class and is very in tune with her clients individual needs, energy level and how they are feeling. She is encouraging to everyone and the structure of her class allows her to provide individual attention and support so that you get the most out of each pose. I like the fact that there is no level to achieve, just to strive for a level of personal success. The first time I took a Gentle Yoga class, I remember saying that I felt like I had just had a massage, totally Zen. I felt completely relaxed and had truly surrendered to a state of calm. I find the classes helpful as they have taught me how to relax from the breathing techniques to the shoulder rolls. They also help me stay focused on what's most important and that is taking care of myself which means I have to take time for myself, something I never used to do."

"I always enjoyed participating in yoga classes but since developing arthritis in my shoulder I found it difficult to transition or maintain certain poses without pain. Attending the classes once a week has really helped in my posture on the bike. I can utilize certain "cues" from class to help me make subtle changes to relieve discomfort while cycling.
Chantal’s gentle yoga provides a perfectly paced class with many variations to be comfortable. The small classes allow her to correct participants and provide options to poses. Chantal’s warm and gentle manner make you feel welcome to be there. I always leave feeling relaxed yet recharged. A tune up you could say. It is my special ‘treat’ to myself once a week."

"We first came to Gentle Yoga because our friends were going and said how relaxed and limber they felt and what an excellent teacher Chantal was. We had been looking for a yoga class to supplement the yoga we were doing at home on our own. We feel that yoga generates good health and spiritual well-being and development. This yoga is the gentlest, least injurious, most deeply satisfying and pleasant way to generate total health. Chantal guides us in easy steps that help us to develop a deep connection with our bodies. She is keenly aware of each student and is able to gently guide each of us into mastery of a position in our own capacities and mindful meditation. After each session we feel calmer, less stressed, limber and more connected to each other, our families and our community. Also, the limbering will surely help with our beloved golf game. The small class size is critical to personal attention and growth in the yoga sessions. We love it!"

"As a recent retiree, I have returned to my practice of yoga and have benefited from weekly one-on-one sessions with Chantal, concentrating on my technique. Each session focuses on different poses that improve my strength and relaxes my body through breath training. I like the fact the Chantal's session are always structured, with a specific objective in mind, built on earlier sessions. As I experience different poses and their benefits, Chantal answers my questions in a helpful manner. After each session, I feel like I had a really good work-out and my body feels supple and refreshed."

Ron Gooch (Yoga for Golfers™) "As a “weekend golfer” suffering for many years with inconsistency, “Yoga for Golfers” has created a welcomed change in my whole approach to the game. Not only did balance and rhythm improve through the exercises, I learned the secret of breathing! Such a simple concept; but it has made a tremendous difference in both the mental and physical aspects of the game. Golf has become far more enjoyable and relaxing ever since. I fully endorse “Yoga for Golfers” as an essential tool in my golf bag!" Joyce & Michael Morrison (Gentle & Hatha Yoga)
