Bone broth is highly nutritious and offers many health benefits such as reducing inflammation, supporting gut health and protecting our joints. It is also known to possibly aid with sleep and combat osteoarthritis.
Making your own broth is easy and economical! Simply add to a large pot the following ingredients, bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for hours. Personally, I let mine simmer for 12 hours. Once it is ready and cooled, I simply strained the golden liquid in mason jars and freeze them. To get the maximum benefits of this delicious golden liquid, it is recommended to drink a cup a day. So good!
*1 pound of chicken bones
3 carrots roughly chopped
3 celery branches roughly chopped
2 whole onions, roughly cut (you can leave the skin on)
2 cup of fresh parsley
1/4 cup raw apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp of grey sea salt
* I like to boil a full chicken in a large pot on the stove, and once it is cooked, and cooled, I debone the chicken, and thrown the bones, and the rest of the broth ingredients in the same water it was cooked in. This way, I get moist pieces of chicken that I can use in different recipes as well as the base for a great broth.
