Dare to dream!"I dream of winning my club's championship" a client of mine sheepishly admitted during one of our yoga for golfers sessions. With a handicap of 7, he certainly has the skills to make his dream come true. Dreams are essential for the betterment of our lives. As quoted by Walt Disney, "all our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." Courage, determination, hard work and in some cases, a little bit of luck. Creating a path of achievable goals (or baby steps as I call them) allows us to attain our dreams. Sounds simple until our internal dialogue kicks in and suddenly, we allow self-doubt to take over and our dream stays in fantasy land. Sounds familiar? I call this self-sabotaging and many of us are pretty good at it. Once we recognize it though, patterns can start to change and extraordinary shifts happen.
With a handicap of 7, my client's goals are to work on bringing mobility back to his hips, lose some weight and tame the anger he feels after a bad shot. He’s been taking all the necessary steps so far to reach these goals, which in turn will hopefully lead him to winning his club’s championship. Dreams propel us to better things. That he wins the championship or not, improving hip mobility, losing weight and quieting his mind can only have a positive impact on his overall wellbeing. Therefore, dare to dream! Determine the path to your dream, and no matter what the outcome, great things will be achieved. Happy golf season! Comments are closed.
