Exercising regularly, eating well, and increasing our exposure to the sun are all good habits to have in order to combat SAD during the winter months. Being more active socially, reaching out and meeting with friends and family, can also help alleviate the blues.
Personally, I like to put on my favourite "happy play list" and dance as if no one is watching! It makes me feel better instantly! Restorative yoga also makes me feel happier as it calms the nervous system and diminishes muscle tension. Although remaining active is important throughout the winter months, allowing yourself to slow down and rest is equally beneficial.
